Facing arrest, Rep. Santos's 2020 & 2022 reports' reveal conflicting values
US Representative George Santos has been charged with fraud, money laundering, and theft of public funds. There were signs. Here is his 2020 financial disclosure report where he disclosed ownership of no assets, and his 2022 report where he disclosed up to $11.25M in assets:
In light of Rep. Santos's recent fraud allegations, here's a blast from the past: Santos's annual report from 2020, where he was required to disclose all his assets and income earned and possessed at the end of the year, disclosed him as having 'nil' assets.
In a plot twist, his 2022 report listed him as being in possession of more than $11M in assets.
Now, less than a year after Santos commenced his term this year, the Rep. has been arrested on allegations of securities fraud.
